Maternal Mental Health Week: Because Every Mother Deserves to Be Well

This Maternal Mental Health Week, we pause to shine a light on the emotional and psychological journey of motherhood—a journey that too often goes unseen.

Up to 1 in 5 mothers will experience a maternal mental health condition like postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD, or trauma. For women of color, those numbers are even higher—and access to culturally responsive care remains a barrier.

This week isn’t just about awareness—it’s about action. It’s a call to:

Listen to mothers when they say they’re not okay.

Make space for rest, healing, and community support.

Advocate for mental health resources that begin in pregnancy and continue well into the postpartum period.

Because maternal mental health is public health. When mothers are well, babies thrive. Families stabilize. Communities grow stronger.

Let’s stop expecting moms to suffer in silence. Let’s meet them with care, dignity, and real support.

This week—and every week—mothers deserve to be seen, heard, and held.
